Drs. Jason and Nelson Hui love seeing children of all ages. At Paragon Dentistry, we seek to establish long-lasting relationships of trust with families so parents can feel comfortable coming to see us and even more, bringing their precious little ones to visit us.
Your Child’s First Visit
The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends bringing your child to the dentist soon after the first baby tooth comes in or around your child’s first birthday. Preventive care is the foundation for healthy smiles, and we want to be there from the inception to help look after your child’s smile and to offer patient education during this period of rapid tooth development. Starting with the very first visit, we incorporate special touches to make children feel special and look forward to coming back!
We have several amenities for kids:
- Play Area with Toys
- Video Games
- Internet Station for Teenagers
- Cartoons in Treatment Rooms
- Pillows & Blankets
- Flavored Toothpaste
- Treasure Chest of Prizes
- No-Shot Dental Fillings
When talking with children about dental visits and how to take care of their teeth at home, we use words, concepts, and pictures that a child can understand, such as “tooth pictures” for digital x-rays. We illustrate the importance of brushing away “cavity bugs,” and we take time to answer any questions from children and parents alike.
Dental Sedation Options for Children
Here at Paragon Dentistry, we offer several dental sedation options to allow your child to receive complete dental procedures with ease and comfort. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas), which we sometimes call “funny gas” to help children understand what to expect, significantly reduces anxiety while providing a happy or silly feeling. These effects are totally reversed once nitrous oxide administration is ceased so your child can return to full, normal function immediately after treatment. If necessary, we also offer oral conscious sedation through the use of a safe, liquid medication in conjunction with nitrous oxide to promote an even greater level of calm and comfort. Oral sedation is safe and we will monitor your child throughout treatment for optimal safety!
